Open Sessions Artist 2018-20: Theodore Darst on the Creative Block and Process
.
“I find that when I get frustrated in the studio, it is often the byproduct of bumping up against technology in a way that slows my practice down. I submit control of my time and schedule to a couple of pieces of software and am usually shifting attention between two computers which forms a rhythm. It’s a fragile ecosystem. I try to play basketball or go to the park when I feel overwhelmed, or the animations rendering are making me jumpy. Mostly I set an alarm on my phone and play video games on mute while listening to music until the alarm goes off and it’s time to work — hard reset.” - Theodore Darst
