Every Friday we will share a photograph of an #ArtistInAction Bharti Kher (b. 1969) is a London-born New Delhi-based artist that works in sculpture, painting, and installation. Kher’s use of contradicting media is part of her overall practice that blends, fuses, and combines elements that showcases her boundless imagination. In her sculptures, Kher combines animal species and plants together that confound biological distinctions to create an original otherworldly creature. Kher also uses a wide array of mythologies and folklore into her work to present a reimagination of Modern India. “I’m still not interested in the thread [that’s] supposed to connect me all together with my work or otherwise,” she explains. “We are all hybrids and totally unpredictable.
