I think the development of written language disrupted free-form drawing exploration as it attached meaning to forms, and in a way hindered the development of drawing.” 〰️ SL: “I tend to dwell on simple things like bread, tools, fire, flags, fog, for example, and try to articulate relationships between objects, images, and their meaning in the context of labor, lived time, nationalism, or history. What I really want is to ‘unknow’ familiar symbols, to get to a strange and vulnerable state of them not yet having meaning.” 〰️ Srinivas Mangipudi lives and works in India and Peru.
