Every Friday we will share a photograph of an #ArtistInAction. 〰 Barbara Hepworth (1903-1975) was a British artist that pioneered modernist sculpture with her smooth elliptical shapes that evoked a powerful sense of peace and balance. Born in a small town in Yorkshire, the pastoral scene of her childhood helped her develop a deep appreciation of the landscape. "All my early memories are of forms and shapes and textures," she explained. "Moving through and over the West Riding landscape with my father in his car, the hills were sculptures; the roads defined the form. Above all, there was the sensation of moving physically over the contours of fulnesses and concavities, through hollows and over peaks - feeling, touching, through mind and hand and eye."
