Dean’s images, drawn from Parisian magazines, reflect a repeated pattern of stacking the artist noticed in research into periodicals dating from 1900 to the present. She notes that the objects are each in a state of precariousness, indicating, perhaps, a disorder within order, or a “desire for the system (capitalism, in this case), to topple over into disorder.” 〰
