Every Thursday, we share a favorite book about drawing and artists working in the medium. “What is so remarkable about the Grimms .. is that these narratives resonate centuries later. This collapse of time is magical” - Natalie Frank Accompanied by a traveling exhibit, Natalie Frank’s drawings of the “Tales of the Brothers Grimm”, created using gouache and chalk pastel, are vibrant yet gritty, expressive compositions that mirrors the complexities of the stories. Fairy tales have a history of being created, read and shared by women. Frank noted this and, with a feminist mindset, reimagined them visually, critiquing the sexual and social customs of gender and linking traditional stories with current dialogues bridging the gap between generations.
