I have lived and worked in the area for years, and somehow never visited Souk & Sandwich until one of my co-workers recommended it to me. You see, I don’t normally gravitate towards sandwiches of the standard deli variety, I like my sandwich fillings aromatic and flavorful, with cleverly spiced meat and vegetables. So I visited other restaurants, taking the “Sandwich” in the restaurant’s title as a sign to explore elsewhere. I should have been focusing on the “Lebanese Cooking” part of the sign, I would have found Souk & Sandwich’s delightfully tangy sojuk sandwich and sumac fries much sooner. Fresh mint and parsley make appearances in many of the dishes, offsetting the garlic, pepper, and cumin with bright bursts of flavor.
