STAFF PICKS: Looking for a bite to eat in SoHo? Here is a neighborhood gem. Each Wednesday we will post a Drawing Center food fav.
I recently went back to Ba’al for the first time in several years. This is tiny but tasty Mediterranean restaurant, with little seating but enough benches and handheld pita sandwiches to make it an easy stop for a bite. Located just blocks away from The Drawing Center, on Sullivan Street, Ba’al is easily one of the closest and most logical stops for those of us on lunch break. Their falafel is crisp and their pita, whole wheat or regular, is warm and airy, with plenty of fresh salads and sauteed sides to go along with the stellar bread. Our Education Intern Lara has been searching for quality falafel in New York that compares to the real deal, and assures us that Ba’al’s is the best she’s had so far, citing the winning combination of fresh, crispy fried shells and expertly seasoned chickpea and fava bean interiors. -Isabella Kapur, Communications Intern
