Occupying a median between two streets, La Esquina’s facade is a burst of color and excitement, a foolproof combination of convenience and tacos that pushes everything else from my mind. The brilliant neon “Corner Deli” sign above La Esquina and the metallic diner exterior establish the vibrant, atmosphere that defines the food and feel of the taqueria. Underneath the sign, sliding order windows painted with the available dishes in bold red, green, and yellow shout to passers by while vibrant outdoor seating and rows of neon jarritos bottles complete the scene. La Esquina serves an array of fresh, modern, and satisfying tacos, but what really gets me are the corn tortillas pressed to order.
