Artists have a variety of methods to make their mark. Every Friday we will share a photograph of an #ArtistInAction. Sarah Sze’s body of work balances specificity of found material with dynamic architectural sculpture. Born in 1969, Sze developed her practice at Yale and SVA, establishing a unique relationship with scale and dimension. Sculptural in nature, Sze’s work investigates the hazy relationship between both two and three dimensional space and incomprehensibly large and microscopic forms. Negative space, color, and line fragilely co-exist in her cosmic structures. Her materials of choice range from printed work on paper, often cut and altered to subvert two dimensional expectations, to discarded eraser shavings, plastic plants, and water bottles.
