Artists have a variety of methods to make their mark. Every Friday we will share a photograph of an #ArtistInAction Known as a master of draftsmanship and optical illusion, Dutch artist Maurits Cornelis Escher (1898-1972) created work that challenged the eye and pushed the boundaries of dimension and reality. MC Escher gravitated towards art from an early age, and proceeded to have a prolific career in drawing, woodcut, lithography, and even textile and stamp design. His work made the impossible possible, blending realism with the fantastic through mathematically arranged lines and forms. During his lifetime, Escher used drawing to explore perspective and possibility, evident in his work with impossible objects, infinite loops, and tessellations, or cleverly tiled shapes. #MCEscher Image: MC Escher dedicating “Spirals” woodcut to Bruno Ernst.
