Los-Angeles based artist Andrea Bowers creates overtly political art that is intimately connected with traditions of social and feminist activism. While raising questions about the relationship between art and politics, the tone of Bowers’ critique is meditative, discursive, and non-combative, focusing on issues such as identity, individual expression, belonging, and equality. In 2014, Bowers mounted the exhibition Drawing Lessons with the performance artist Suzanne Lacy at The Drawing Center, a month-long performance in which Bowers schooled Lacy, a performance artist, in the fundamentals of draftsmanship. #TheDrawingcenter #AndreaBowers
