Open Sessions 7: Hibernating Plan is on view Wed-Sun 12-6pm | Thur 12-8pm. This is a group exhibition that considers drawing in relationship to the sense of suspended time inherent in planning. Featuring artists #ShereeHovsepian, #RafaelKelman, #Arnold Kemp, #ThessiaMachado, #SunMoqing, #SaraChangYan, and #TuguldurYondonjamts, the exhibition explores the notion of the “sketch” in relation to the instinct to hibernate, intuit, and mull over. #ShereeHovsepian’s "Material Gesture (A Meditation on Latency)", combines fabric, drawing paper and one of her large photographic prints to allude to the philosophy of photography and the term “latency,” which is the hibernating state of an image captured on film. The fabric provides a sense of veiling (or covering and uncovering) speaking to Hovsepian’s physical movements and their receptivity to light sensitive paper in the darkroom.
