Helen Frankenthaler was mainly known for her color stain paintings in which she applied diluted paint onto raw canvas. Reflecting and investigating natural forms and landscapes while referencing art history, she created vivid paintings using her famed “soak-stain” technique. Frankenthaler’s thinned paints and dynamic compositions of floating and expanding translucent colors depict a vibrant, undulating space.
