“Drop Drawing” is an example of what William Anastasi refers to as an ‘unsighted’ work, or a work made without looking. To create “Drop Drawing,” Anastasi stood blindfolded on a ladder above a cut circular piece of paper and dropped a graphite stick, which he had tied to a string. Like many artists featured in “Drawing Dialogues,” Anastasi is interested in the idea of chance operations and uses the random interplay between stillness and motion to determine the composition of his works. “Drawing Dialogues: Selections from the Sol LeWitt Collection” features over 100 works by more than 60 artists from this extraordinary collection.
