Artists have a variety of methods to make their mark. Every Friday we will share a photograph of an #ArtistInAction. Sigmar Polke worked in a broad range of mediums from painting to printmaking and from sculpture to film. He blurred the boundaries of printmaking and painting. By dipping a pencil eraser into poster pigment and pressing them on the canvas, which he also referred to as the “grid” technique, the German artist’s created his “raster-dot” paintings. Resembling enlarged images from magazines and newspapers, the raster paintings had a handmade quality while having the appearance of screen prints.
