#TBT In April 1984, "Reading Drawings: A Selection From The Victoria and Albert Museum" presented 121 masterpieces in a comprehensive exhibition to illustrate how and why drawings are made. The exhibition was divided into four categories: technique, drawing as a discipline, drawing as imagination, and drawing for utility. #Drawings in the first category- technique - were selected to examining their physical makeup. The works highlighted the instruments such as paper, implements and media, drawing aids and gadgets, and correction devices. Works within the second category traced all types of drawing since the Renaissance. Drawing as imagination was a category that showed the mind of the artist finding graphic form without intending a finished work of art.
