Artists have a variety of methods to make their mark. Every Friday we will share a photograph of an #ArtistInAction Born in 1957, Marlene McCartey grew up in Kentucky and studied at the University of Cincinnati, College of Design, Architecture and Art and Schule für Gestaltung in Basel, Switzerland. During the late 1980s she became a member of the AIDS activist collective Gran Fury. Her confrontational works range from narrative to ironic and were primarily text-based , later evolving into large-scale figurative drawings addressing sexual and social issues.
