Opening April 15, “Drawing Dialogues: Selections from the Sol LeWitt Collection” is an exhibition featuring over 100 works by more than 60 artists from the renowned artist’s extraordinary collection. Artist Highlight: Lucinda Childs
Born in 1940 in New York, Lucinda Childs is a dancer and choreographer known for creating intricate performances through minimalistic compositions. In 1979 Childs collaborated with Philip Glass and Sol LeWitt in a performative work entitled “Dance” that was commissioned by the Brooklyn Academy of Music. Comprised of film, music and dance, “Dance” was created by three artists sharing similar methods in their own practices. It was a minimalist or, according to Philip Glass, an essentialist work.
