Opening April 15, “Drawing Dialogues: Selections from the Sol LeWitt Collection” is an exhibition featuring over 100 works by more than 60 artists from the renowned artist’s extraordinary collection. It is the first large-scale exhibition of the collection to be held in New York in over 30 years. Evening Opening April 14, 6-8pm “ The number is the greatest of inventions.” Artist Highlights: Hanne Darboven Born in Munich in 1941, Hanne Darboven studied painting at the Staatliche Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Hamburg. After moving to New York in 1966, she laid the groundwork for her art practice by constructing a neutral language of numbers as “a way of writing without describing”. This linear structure served as a calendar--a system for marking the passage of time. Later in the 1970s, Darboven, also a trained pianist, arranged her calendar into a form of musical notations.
