Artists have a variety of methods to make their mark. Every Friday we will share a photograph of an #ArtistInAction. "The scale was dictated by the places I actually did the work." As part of her engagement with materiality, Lynda Benglis used liquid to make solid objects. In this way she pushed the borders defining painting and sculpture. The gestures in her work were not so much intended to capture an expressive act, but rather to explore how the latex paint interacted with the room. By pouring it directly on the floor, Benglis allowed the material to develop its own form and scale based on the space.
