It’s St. Patrick’s Day today! In 2013, we exhibited the works of Irish-born American-based painted, Sean Scully. Scully grew up in what he describes as the city's "gray, hard, spiritually empty" southern boroughs, and industrial area punctuated by structures that would define his artistic idiom. In addition to painting, Scully has produced a number of works on paper that both paraphase and diversify the ideas in his canvases. He continues to explore the possibilities and limits of grid structures and surface textures through the use of household masking tape, acryclic paint, and ink on paper.
