Surviving an almost fatal accident, Frida Kahlo went through relentless physical hardships and surgeries for the rest of her life. Despite the severe condition she continued to paint while at the hospital and, after being discharged, as she recuperated in bed. Her mother ordered a special easel and hung a mirror in the bed canopy helping Frida to use herself as a model.
