From our Online Gallery: Michèle Lemieux’s animated film "Here and the Great Elsewhere" was created using a pinscreen instrument created in the early 1930s by innovators Alexandre Alexeïeff and Claire Parker. The Alexeïeff-Parker pinscreen consists of hundreds of thousands of thin metal pins, which can be pushed forward and lit from the side to cast shadows. Using the pinscreen, “Here and the Great Elsewhere” tells a story about a person who looks beyond everyday experience and into a new and extraordinary world. Go to drawingcenter.org to watch.
