#TBT In the Fall of 1987, we exhibited Selections 39 which was a group exhibition of new work by ten emerging artists that were chosen through our Viewing Program. Included in this exhibition were artists such as Patti Blau, Beverly Fishman, Mylo Freeman, Tony Serio, and William Staples. Tony Serio’s charcoal and gesso drawings probed the darker undercurrents of everyday events and routine encounters. In her playful cartoon-like ink drawings, Patti Blau isolated mundane objects and sought to endow them with a life of their own. William Staple’s acrylics explored recognizable ideas and forms. Beverly Fisherman’s abstractions investigated the inner workings of the human body, the “tubes and vessels” which define existence.
