OPENING in January: "Jennifer Bartlett: Hospital" is the first museum exhibition of Bartlett's new series of ten pastels made in 2012. Evening opening, Thursday, January 21, 6-8pm. On view Jan 22-Mar 20 The works are based on a series of photographs that Bartlett took during an extended stay at Greenberg Pavilion at New York-Presbyterian Hospital / Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York, and which she later cropped and edited in her studio.In the Hospital pastels, Bartlett visually expresses what might be called “hospital time,” a temporality marked by the alteration of periods of intense treatment and extreme boredom that fosters a hyper-attunement to small changes in one's immediate surroundings.
