#TBT In Spring 1987, we exhibited “The Art of Drawing in France (1400-1900)” which celebrated the tenth anniversary of The Drawing Center. The exhibition presented 121 master drawings selected from the collection of Stockholm’s Nationalmuseum, which is among the greatest repositories of graphic arts in the world. Among the master artists featured were Leonardo da Vinci, Francesco Primaticcio, Claude Lorrain, Nicolas Poussin, Antoine Watteau, J.B.S. Chardin, Francois Boucher, Camille Corot, Jean-Francois Millet, Eugene Delacroix, Henri Toulouse-Lautrec, Edgar Degas, and Paul Cezanne. The exhibition showcased the development of drawing in France by displaying works that ranged from sketches to finished drawings and was an opportunity for the collection to become known to a wider international circle. #TBT #France #drawing #collection #Nationalmuseum #EugeneDelacroix Image: Eugene Delacroix, Studies of Arab on Horseback, 1832.
