A Page from the
#DrawingPapers Archive
This page from Drawing Papers 10 features "Stilts", a gouache on paper drawing created by Amy Cutler in 1999.
Stilts was included in the exhibition Selections Summer 2000, which featured a small group of artists from the Viewing Program. Cutler writes that her illustrated narratives are “based on memories, dreams, and reinterpreted stories. The metaphors or narratives can start out with borrowed characters from well-known tales and develop into a new episode or segment. The borrowed characters are revisited on the days that they are not in their starring roles.” The Drawing Papers are a series of publications documenting The Drawing Center’s exhibitions and public programs and providing a forum for the study of drawing. -Kate Robinson, Bookstore Manager
