Throwback Thursday In the fall of 1987, The Drawing Center exhibited "Otto Wagner: Drawings" which featured the most comprehensive selection of Wagner drawings ever exhibited in the United States. Included in the exhibition were drawings that clearly document Wagner’s working method: freehand sketches, pencil drawings to scale, and final drawings in ink and watercolor. This exhibition celebrated the tenth anniversary of The Drawing Center. Wagner’s style was rooted in the blend of old and new architecture. As Vienna’s foremost architect at the turn of the century, he is credited with taking the first steps to free architecture from a dependence on historical styles. “Otto Wagner: Drawings” was a collection of the methods and the drawing processes in Wagner’s works. #TBT #OttoWagner Image: Otto Wagner, Provisional church, section (second design), 1906-1907.
