“Single Occupancy”, a performance work by Open Sessions artists Lauren Bakst and Yuri Masnyj involves a body, a monitor, and a stack of objects. These materials create the conditions for the construction of landscape and portraiture, using absence and abstraction to establish the presence of the figure. In “Single Occupancy”, the image functions as a recording and a disappearance—the performance, a practice in the sensation of artifice. TODAY: Thursday, August 20 at 5pm LAST PERFORMANCES: Friday, August 21 at 2pm & 3pm This performance is included in the admission price: Wednesday-Sunday $5, $3 student | Thursday FREE from 6-8pm A part of “Name It by Trying to Name It: Open Sessions 2014-15” , which includes all artists in the program, giving the first floor of the museum over to an exploration of drawing, performance, video, sculpture, and installation. #OpenSessions #LaurenBakst #YuriMasnyj
