The 2013 exhibition "Dickinson/Walser : Pencil Sketches" brought together the work of Swiss writer Robert Walser (1878 – 1956) and American poet Emily Dickinson (1830-1886). Both writers were obsessively private as well as peculiarly attentive to the visuality of their texts. Dickinson fitted her poetic fragments on carefully torn pieces of envelope, newspaper, and stationary, resulting in scribed words that linger between drawing and text. The way | Hope builds his | House is composed on a carefully crafted envelope, torn in such a way that it appears to be shaped as a house.
