A Page from the Drawing Papers Archive This page from #DrawingPapers 76 features "Astral Bragger 2" (detail), a spray paint, collage, and pencil on paper drawing created by #SterlingRuby in 2007. The 2008 exhibition, "Sterling Ruby: CHRON", examined the role of drawing as medium, gesture, and act, in the LA- based artist’s body of work -- from graffiti-based spray paint drawings to photographic collages, nail polish abstractions, and inscribed Formica sculptures -- which when viewed together revealed formal and thematic connections informed by the artist’s background in drawing.
