Our 61 Charles Street building has a storied history dating back over 100 years. If you’re familiar with the building, you’ve seen this camera on the first floor near the Tuck Shop. So why is it here?🧐 . In 1946, Alger Press Limited took over the building, a former T. Eaton Company undergarment factory, to expand their bookbinding and printing business. This 1950s-era industrial camera, which was a high-tech in its time📽️📻, was integral to their printing process. Unfortunately the company went bankrupt in 1993 and the building remained vacant for many years, but eventually became a class-A Oshawa Heritage site in 2006. 🏠 . The university moved into the building in 2009 and maintained as much of the original structure and character as possible; this camera is evidence of that📷! Make sure you check it out when you come to the downtown location and tag us in your pics.✨ . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #61charles #Eatons #AlgerPress #Oldfashioned ...
