Ruth Bader Ginsburg was the second female Justice of the United States Supreme Court, and she served for 27 years from 1993 until her death in 2020. Ruth's career was focused on women's rights and gender equality. Before being nominated for the Supreme Court, Ginsburg was a lawyer who co-founded the Women's Rights Project at the American Civil Liberties Union. She participated in 6 cases before the Supreme Court and was victorious in 5. Her activism continued during her time on the Supreme Court as she fought for gender equality in many cases such as United States v. Virginia, and Ledbetter v.
