Sometimes breaking the bias can come from the most unexpected places. Associate Director Lauren Lang shares her experience. “I’m not sure it is always clear to me when I have broken the bias. When I was a kid, I think I mostly did by playing very physical sports with the boys. Seeing me dust myself off after taking hits or getting back up after getting hurt broke down some bias. Once I accidentally won a gold medal for slalom skiing in the boys group. I was ten. They thought I was a boy and mistakenly, I guess mistakenly, ranked me against the group of boys that were my peers. When they called my name during the ski banquet as gold for boys, it threw quite a few people for a loop, including me. So I guess I break down my own bias as well as breaking down those of others.” #ProtivitiPerspectives #LivingProtiviti #WomensHistoryMonth #BreakTheBias
