Repost 📷 thezachriddley: I love seeing the past-meets-future styling of the Disney’s Contemporary Resort lobby and Steakhouse 71 revealed this week just in time for the start of Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary! One of the original hotels to open with Magic Kingdom in 1971 - the Contemporary has several original design cues that are celebrated in this renovated lobby and restaurant. Artist and Disney Legend Mary Blair designed several elements of this hotel, including the famous mosaic murals (with its five-legged goat) that adorn the central atrium. Did you know that Mary Blair also designed a custom wall treatment pattern for the guest rooms? That tapered oval detail never made it into the final project, but our design team has recreated this pattern in the new wall treatments that adorn the lobby walls just opposite the elevators.
