My name is Miranda Pickard and I will be a freshman in the fall of 2018. All of my life I have worked diligently to keep my gpa as high as possible and to constantly push myself by taking advanced courses. That is now in partial jeopardy because of the cuts to the TOPS scholarship program. Louisiana Tech University has truly opened my view of college and all of the wonderful things I can accomplish in this world. The thought of all of my hard work and dedication going to waste is truly upsetting. The one thing students could rely on while working so hard in school was so that our persistence would pay off in the end. This university and these programs are the only way some people can receive higher level education. I personally know people that have changed colleges or skipped college altogether because the debt they would accumulate from TOPS cuts was inexplainable. Please think about the amazing things this state can do for students who have worked so hard for all of their school car...
