Traveling around the world has opened my eyes, heart and mind to the privileges I possess as a white woman in America. With my work as a Sports Diplomat with the Department of State, the rise of the BLM Movement last summer, and with the help of people around me, I much better understand this privilege and how I can and NEED to be a better ally. By using my voice and building bridges with communities far from my own, I’ve realized that having conversations about these uncomfortable topics is the only way to break that barrier to a more inclusive and equitable society. I want to do that work….both here in the U.S. and abroad.
