Yesterday, I was brought in by fhi360 to speak to a group of soccer coaches and community leaders who were visiting from Niger, Africa (a country where I have run sportsdiplomacy programs!). . . I gave an hour long presentation on gender equality, sports diplomacy and Title IX. The coaches were so engaging, incredibly grateful (even gave me gifts from their country) and promised that their top priority would be to start a women’s program in their respective communities in Niger. . . I realized that this is exactly how change is made - through small efforts across cultures and borders. Through education and personal connection that pushes the needle of progress.
