At times I didn’t feel what I’m about to say, but I am a very fortunate person. Cancer is ugly and it doesn’t just affect the person who has it. I remember the hardest part about knowing I had it was that I had to tell my loved ones that I had it. I wanted to not say anything to anyone, especially my parents, but my brother Jimi reassured me that if I did decide to share, my parents (and others) would want to be there to support me. And he was right, my support system during this time was unmatched. I haven’t officially shared this publicly but I was diagnosed with stage 2b testicular cancer. The healthcare professionals call it a young man’s cancer. I was the perfect age for it. Luckily the advances in medicine and the research done by Dr. Einhorn have turned this once deadly cancer (fatal within two years of diagnosis) to a beatable cancer.
