Sickle cell disease is an inherited blood disorder and the most common genetic blood disorder in the US. People of African ancestry make up 90% of the sickle cell disease in the US. It has a widespread impact that affects your body, your mind, and your social life. 1 in 13 African Americans (including myself) are born with SC trait. Managing your sickle cell disease can feel overwhelming. Remember that small steps may make a difference in managing the condition.
