Life in the mid ‘90s was good, maybe even great. I was married, had a family, was a managing director at a Fortune 100 company and, for good measure, I won a national track championship. And did I mention, I was very good at religion?⁣ ⁣ Fast forward to 2010, and life looked significantly different. I had just gone through a divorce, a company I had co-founded had barely weathered the recession and I was looking at the prospect of a second open heart surgery laced with complications. In a word, life was dark. In the throes of self-pity, my wife, Chong, walked into my life.⁣ Chong, while far from a perfect human being, had a faith unlike anything I had ever witnessed. Despite having to overcome many obstacles in her life, she placed her complete trust in Jesus Christ. I wanted a relationship like she had, so one day I agreed to attend Hope with her.
