One of the greatest pieces of wisdom I have ever received is, “Never assume anything, but ALWAYS assume that someone might be hurting.” Whether we have gone through a bad breakup, lost a job, are short on finances, lost a loved one or have an insecurity about our physical appearance, we have all had an experience that has hurt us.
Mine started at the age of 18 when I developed chronic depression which stemmed from a variety of things such as a breakup, alcohol, gambling and everyday fights with my parents. This lasted for over two years, and as the anxiety and depression built up, I got to the point where I became numb to emotion. As humans we often accept the love we think we deserve, which in this case I felt as if I deserved no love from anyone.
