Over 25 years ago, my husband, Mike Horstmann (now known as “Music Mike”), was asked to play keyboard for a new mission church that was meeting in an office building. That’s where my story at Lutheran Church of Hope started. We eventually joined, signing our names as two of the first 100 charter members of Hope. Hope grew quickly, initiating a groundbreaking for the building at 6820 Ashworth, and soon after, a groundbreaking for our current location. God was moving through this church, and we all were along for the amazing ride.
When I started attending Hope, there were maybe 12 people at a service, 6-8 children in Sunday School and Bible School, and a plate of cookies serving the entire group of people after church. It was the smallest church I’d ever been involved in, but I sincerely believe that there is no way Hope would be where it is today if we didn’t get out of the way and trust God ‘s power!
