Reposted from kobrienjewelry - Mistake or lesson? // in making jewelry most mistakes turn into lessons. You melt things and adjust the flame. Rings are the wrong size, you adjust for silver stretching when you hammer the wire round. Enamels aren’t always the color described or shown on the samples they come with. // mistake: this enamel should fire the color of the dried flowers in the photo // lesson, when instead it consistently fired this frosty green, I embraced this mistake. I named this hue first frost and rolled with it. Now, I test colors, how they look on raw metal, layered with other colors, or applied over flux. If a pink turns yellow, as it often does I embrace it. To be honest, my craft would be boring without these happy mistakes. And it wouldn’t be life if I didn’t learn a lesson from it. // lesson, embrace the unknown and roll with it // in craft // in life // in love // //
