A RACE IS A WORK OF ART ————————————————————— Pre’s Rock is a sacred place within the running community. We make pilgrimages to the site to leave notes, race medals, ribbons and old shoes as tribute to the soul who inspired us to be bold, brash and individual and to act on our audacious dreams. By doing this, we create something new every time we toe the line. Portland Track and SERA Architects are holding a design competition to celebrate the Olympics and return of the Trials to Pre’s Track: Hayward Field. The competition is open to students and young professionals and is a challenge to design a conceptual memorial to the American running icon. The competition will conclude during Portland #trackweek on the 45th Anniversary of Pre’s death, 5.30.2020.
