TALES FROM TRACKLANDIA
(Post 1/4)—————————————————————
The photo above is of Justyn Knight edging Woody Kincaid and Galen Rupp in the 5000m at the 2016 Stumptown Twilight. What follows is a true story, but not that story...
—————————————————————
Cam Marantz quit his job as a day trader in January of 2015. He’d saved up enough cash from the job and a side hustle as a card shark in a gambling ring to make a push as a competitive runner through 2020. For years, he’d been dogged by injuries, but PRing every spring despite that gave him the feeling that if he dedicated himself fully, he could make a big leap. Living in Philly at the time, he procured the help of skilled coach, Juli Benson to guide his journey to the high stakes end of the track and field honky tonk.
Bests as of January 2015-
Mile: 4:13
5k: 14:06.41
10k: 29:40.65
