6 QU Engineering students are putting their skills to the test by designing and building an off-road vehicle to compete in the Baja SAE — an international competition pitting student-made vehicles against some of the harshest terrain and conditions. ⠀ ⠀ “When I started this project, I was a first-semester junior with solid modeling background but minimal engineering design experience,” recalls mechanical engineering major and lead designer Alexander Petrarca ’21. “Knowing what I know now, there is much I would go back and do differently. That being said, I am still extremely proud of my work.” ⠀ ⠀ The team — also comprised of Sam Deleel '20, John Murray '20, Zachariah Polak '20, Sean Budowsky '20, Chase Briggs '20 and John Crawford ’20 plans to compete in May at a competition in Kentucky.
