Amid War, First Grain Shipments Leave Ukraine
For the first time since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February, a vessel full of Ukrainian grain left the port of Odessa this week. Carrying corn, the ship arrived in Istanbul, Turkey, for an inspection by Russian, Ukrainian, Turkish and United Nations officials before heading on to Lebanon. Russia and Ukraine signed a deal on July 22 to allow grain exports from several Black Sea ports to help relieve a global food crisis. l August 2022 l
