Leading the field in photojournalism for the best part of 30 years, French press agency Sygma was renowned for covering significant events & celebrity lives from across the globe. Established in 1973 in Paris by a group of former Gamma photographers, it would build on the archives of Hubert Henrotte, Jean-Pierre & Eliane Laffont, James Andanson, Alain Dejean, Alain Nogues, and Christian Simonpietri, their own handwritten inventories still looked after within the collection.⠀
Opening offices in Los Angeles & New York, Sygma’s prize-winning coverage would encompass conflicts & revolutions, royalty & leaders, and illuminating portraiture of sport & cultural icons.⠀
